Safestop Manchester

The proposed Garden Studios have been exploring placing 1 bedroom, 1 person units to the rear of an existing Depaul Safestop hostel on Palantine Road, Manchester.  We have completed several massing and form exercises to ascertain, in liaison with the council, an appropriate and considerate number of units.  Each Garden Studio will include their own bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom and laundrette.

The Garden Studios have been designed using our P.I.E approach.  We purposefully moved away from the institutional, high yield unit model to a higher quality design that considers privacy and social interconnectedness as paramount to proposed outcome.  The materiality of the studios will reflect the typical red brick terrace houses with pitched slate roofs found in the area.  All matures trees will be retained and additional semi mature trees will be planted as part of works to create a newly landscaped garden.
